It signifies a decisive upliftment of the departed being—moving beyond the preta-condition when karmic bondage is exhausted or countered by merit, enabling passage to higher realms.
It depicts a transition: from preta-state to a refined, luminous form, followed by ascent to heaven—triggered by the arrival of “karmānta” (the end-point of that karmic phase) and supported by righteous aid.
Live and act so that merit supports you and others—perform dharmic duties, cultivate gratitude, and (where applicable) support funerary rites and charitable acts done for the departed.
