Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Through bhakti-yoga, when the devotee is inwardly satisfied, the Unborn Lord reveals Himself; the devotee becomes fulfilled and desireless.
Vedantic Theme: Īśvara-prasāda as the culmination of sādhana; bhakti leading to aparokṣa-anubhava (direct realization) and vairāgya (niḥspṛhatā).
Application: Sustain devotion with contentment (santoṣa) rather than bargaining; regular nāma-smaraṇa, pūjā, and surrender; measure progress by reduced craving and increased equanimity.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 2.6.99 (Bhagavan compassionate to devotees); Garuda Purana 2.6.102 (asanga and nirmamatva as fruit)
This verse presents bhakti-yoga as the direct means by which the Unborn Lord becomes experientially known, resulting in inner fulfillment and freedom from craving.
It implies that the soul’s highest welfare is not merely ritual merit but divine realization—when devotion ripens into contentment, the Lord reveals the Self, culminating in detachment and liberation-oriented steadiness.
Cultivate steady devotional practice (prayer, japa, seva) aimed at inner contentment; measure progress by reduced craving and increased equanimity rather than external gains.
