Related Themes: Garuda Purana (Preta-kalpa sections): repeated emphasis on śravaṇa/paṭhana of Viṣṇu-kathā and dharma as purifying; Garuda Purana: dialogues of Bhagavān–Garuḍa as the frame for mokṣa and preta-vidhi teachings
This verse states that the Lord’s teaching has such spiritual potency that even hearing it can loosen bondage to saṃsāra, highlighting śravaṇa as a primary means of inner transformation.
It introduces a liberating instruction about saṃsāra that Vishnu will explain to Garuda, framing the coming teaching as guidance that helps the soul move beyond repeated birth and death.
Regularly listen to and reflect on authentic scriptural teachings with sincerity; treat spiritual study as a discipline that reshapes conduct and reduces attachment-driven suffering.
