Moksha and Svarga through Dāna, Tīrtha, Nāma-smaraṇa, and Bhāva

Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Inner bathing in the ‘mental tīrtha’—knowledge-hearted and truth-watered—removes rāga-dveṣa mala; such a person is not tainted by pāpa.
Vedantic Theme: Antaḥkaraṇa-śuddhi and vairāgya: rāga-dveṣa are primary impurities; knowledge and truthfulness cleanse, enabling non-binding action and freedom from sin’s adhesion (lepa).
Application: Daily introspection: observe attachment/aversion, replace with truthfulness and discriminative understanding; practice mindful ‘inner bath’ (short meditation) before action and at day’s end.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: inner tirtha (psychospiritual)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: teachings that elevate inner purity and remembrance as superior to mere external acts (thematic)
This verse teaches that inner purification—truthful living and knowledge-based clarity that dissolves attachment and aversion—functions like a sacred bath and prevents the taint of sinful residue.
It frames sin as a “stain” that does not cling to one who has purified the mind through satya (truth) and jñāna (discriminative knowledge), removing raga-dvesha which are root impurities.
Practice truthfulness, self-inquiry, and daily reflection to reduce attachment and hatred; treat mental cleansing as essential dharma alongside external rituals.
