This verse marks sapiṇḍīkaraṇa as the culminating rite within the first year, after which the departed is ritually connected with the Pitṛs through piṇḍa-offerings and ongoing monthly observances continue.
It instructs that the twelfth-day set of rites is not a one-time act: it should be maintained through the year up to sapiṇḍīkaraṇa, and then followed by regular monthly offerings (pratimāsika ghaṭānna).
Maintain continuity in ancestral rites: observe the prescribed annual sequence up to sapiṇḍīkaraṇa and then keep a disciplined monthly remembrance/offering practice in line with one’s tradition and guidance of qualified priests.
