มีบางพวกดำรงรูปเป็นเปรต ใบหน้าบิดเบี้ยว น่ากลัวดุดันและอำมหิต ไม่ยอมรับทั้งโคตรวงศ์ บุตรธิดา ปิตฤทั้งหลาย ภรรยาของพี่น้อง หรือแม้แต่เจ้าสาวของตนเอง แม้จะเนรมิตรูปตามปรารถนาและพูดได้ตามใจ แต่ก็ไร้สุขคติ; ตกอยู่ใต้อำนาจแห่งชะตา ปรารถนาจะเสวยผลกรรม จึงคร่ำครวญว่า “โอ้ทุกข์หนอ!” และระลึกถึงกรรมของตนที่สุกงอมให้ผล.
