Related Themes: Garuda Purana: recurring ladder of practice—detachment, devotion, and divine grace as liberating force
This verse presents detachment as the first step that ripens the soul, making it fit for firm devotion and, ultimately, Hari’s grace.
It outlines a progressive inner transformation—dispassion, then unwavering bhakti, culminating in the constant attainment of Vishnu’s favor—rather than focusing on external rites alone.
Practice daily detachment from harmful cravings, strengthen consistent devotion (japa, remembrance, service), and aim for a life that invites divine grace through steady character and prayer.
