Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda)

Concept: Mokṣa is attained only through realization/knowledge of the ultimate Reality (tad-jñāna); exclusivity of liberating knowledge.

Vedantic Theme: Jñāna-niṣṭhā and aparokṣa-anubhava as the direct means to liberation; echoes Upaniṣadic ‘knowing That’ doctrine.

Application: Prioritize śravaṇa–manana–nididhyāsana (study, reflection, contemplation) under a competent teacher; reduce distractions and ritualism-as-end, using practices as supports to knowledge.

Primary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

This verse states that liberation is attained only through knowledge of the Supreme Reality; other approaches without true realization do not culminate in moksha.

It implies that the soul’s final release is not merely a post-death outcome but depends on awakening true knowledge; without it, one remains bound to recurring states of transmigration.

Prioritize study, reflection, and disciplined living that leads to inner realization—using rituals and ethics as supports, but aiming for direct understanding of the Self and the Supreme.
