Lord Viṣṇu (in dialogue instruction to Garuḍa/Vinatā-putra; ritual-ācāra teaching context)
Concept: Ritual completeness includes honoring officiants/guests with bhojana and dakṣiṇā and concluding with proper visarga (formal leave-taking).
Vedantic Theme: Karma-yoga framing: right performance with respect and order purifies the doer; social dharma supports sacred action.
Application: In any religious/communal service, ensure fair compensation, respectful hospitality, and clear closure rather than abrupt endings.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Type: ritual space
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: pūjā-samāpana procedures; brāhmaṇa-bhojana and dakṣiṇā as completion steps (contextual)
This verse frames the completion of the rite: respectfully inviting qualified brāhmaṇas, feeding them, and offering dakṣiṇā is treated as an essential closure step that seals the ritual’s merit and propriety.
It describes the procedural conclusion of a śrāddha-style observance—after the meal and dakṣiṇā, the officiants/guests are formally dismissed, typically in the evening of the same day or the next day.
Complete any religious service with respect and gratitude: invite suitable persons, offer food/service sincerely, give appropriate compensation/charity, and conclude the ceremony properly rather than leaving it unfinished.
