This verse prescribes honoring specific guardians/attendants (Aruṇa, etc.) at the entrance as a preparatory rite, establishing auspiciousness and proper order (vidhi) before the main Sūrya worship.
It indicates a structured approach: first listen/learn the vidhi, then offer mantra-salutations to named beings at the doorway (dvāra), and only thereafter proceed with the fuller worship of Sūrya.
Begin any devotional practice with an orderly, mindful opening—recite the given salutations (or an equivalent respectful invocation), cultivate discipline (daṇḍa) and clarity (aruṇa/dawn symbolism), and then perform the main prayer.
