Lord Viṣṇu (in instruction to Garuḍa)
Concept: Nyāsa aligns the microcosm (body) with the elemental order; mantra with bindu seals and concentrates power.
Vedantic Theme: Microcosm–macrocosm correspondence (piṇḍa–brahmāṇḍa) as a support for inner purification and steadiness of mind.
Application: Before protective rites, perform bhūta-nyāsa; then place nāga-mantras in sequence; use bīja-syllables ending in ‘la’ with bindu as instructed, maintaining strict order and attention.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: ritual body-map (aṅga/elemental loci)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.197.28–30 (Śiva-bīja, maṇḍala-dhyāna, Garuḍa protection, spirit-warding visualization)
This verse presents bhūta-nyāsa as a prerequisite purification/installation, aligning the practitioner with the elemental order before applying further protective mantras.
It stresses yathākramam and bhūta-krameṇa—mantras are not random but are to be placed sequentially, following the established element-wise progression and the proper Nāga-mantra order.
If practicing mantra-sādhana, follow a consistent, teacher-guided sequence (nyāsa and element-order) rather than improvising; it emphasizes disciplined method in ritual practice.
