Concept: Karmic alignment through properly sequenced offerings to grahas, completed by dāna (utensils) as relinquishment.
Vedantic Theme: Niṣkāma-karma tendency: ritual action becomes purifying when paired with giving and non-possessiveness.
Application: Offer prescribed items (dadhyodana, havis, pūpa, māṃsa, citrānna) to grahas in correct order; then donate the vessels used, avoiding re-appropriation.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: household shrine/ritual pavilion
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.101.12 (dakṣiṇā list for grahas)
This verse presents a structured method of propitiating the grahas through specific food offerings and a concluding donation of utensils, emphasizing orderly ritual action (grahakrama) and charitable giving (dāna).
Indirectly, it supports the Purāṇic framework where disciplined ritual observance and dāna reduce obstacles and inauspicious influences, helping maintain dharmic order that benefits one’s life-course and post-death merit.
If performing a traditional graha-śānti, follow an authorized sequence for offerings and include a genuine act of charity (such as donating utensils/essentials) as the verse prescribes.
