Vidura’s Return; Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Departure; Nārada’s Instruction on Kāla and Detachment
सूत उवाच विदुरस्तीर्थयात्रायां मैत्रेयादात्मनो गतिम् । ज्ञात्वागाद्धास्तिनपुरं तयावाप्तविवित्सित: ॥ १ ॥
sūta uvāca viduras tīrtha-yātrāyāṁ maitreyād ātmano gatim jñātvāgād dhāstinapuraṁ tayāvāpta-vivitsitaḥ
ศรีสุตะ โคสวามีกล่าวว่า ระหว่างการจาริกแสวงบุญ วิดูระได้รับความรู้เรื่องจุดหมายของอาตมันจากฤๅษีผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ ไมเตรยะ แล้วจึงกลับสู่หัสตินาปุระ โดยได้รู้แจ้งตามที่ตนปรารถนา
Vidura: One of the prominent figures in the history of the Mahābhārata. He was conceived by Vyāsadeva in the womb of the maidservant of Ambikā, mother of Mahārāja Pāṇḍu. He is the incarnation of Yamarāja. Being cursed by Maṇḍūka Muni, he was to become a śūdra. The story is narrated as follows:
This verse states that Vidura learned from Maitreya the true goal of the self—spiritual realization beyond worldly identity—and, satisfied in knowledge, returned to his duty context at Hastināpura.
Vidura was seeking deeper truth about the self and life’s ultimate purpose; during his tīrtha-yātrā he approached Maitreya and obtained the knowledge he was longing for.
