अन्यस्यामपि भार्यायां शकले द्वे बृहद्रथात् । ये मात्रा बहिरुत्सृष्टे जरया चाभिसन्धिते । जीव जीवेति क्रीडन्त्या जरासन्धोऽभवत् सुत: ॥ ८ ॥
anyasyām api bhāryāyāṁ śakale dve bṛhadrathāt ye mātrā bahir utsṛṣṭe jarayā cābhisandhite jīva jīveti krīḍantyā jarāsandho ’bhavat sutaḥ
จากครรภ์ของมเหสีอีกองค์หนึ่ง พระบริหัทรถะได้โอรสเป็นสองซีก มารดาเห็นแล้วทอดทิ้งไว้ภายนอก แต่ยักษิณีชื่อชรา (Jarā) ได้เล่นสนุกนำสองซีกมาประสานแล้วกล่าวว่า “จงมีชีวิต จงมีชีวิต!” จึงบังเกิดโอรสชื่อชราสันธะ (Jarāsandha).
FAQs
Bhāgavatam 9.22.8 says Jarāsandha was born when two halves of a child from King Bṛhadratha’s wife were discarded, then the being named Jarā found them, joined them, and uttered “Live, live,” bringing the child to life.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī narrates this genealogy and the extraordinary birth of Jarāsandha while describing the royal lineages to King Parīkṣit.
The verse highlights how destiny can unfold in unexpected ways; it encourages humility and caution in judging circumstances, since even what appears “discarded” can become powerful by higher arrangement.
