Dynasty of Kṣatravṛddha: Kāśi Kings, Dhanvantari, Rajī’s Sons, and the Transition to Nahuṣa
धृष्टकेतुस्ततस्तस्मात् सुकुमार: क्षितीश्वर: । वीतिहोत्रोऽस्य भर्गोऽतो भार्गभूमिरभून्नृप ॥ ९ ॥
dhṛṣṭaketus tatas tasmāt sukumāraḥ kṣitīśvaraḥ vītihotro ’sya bhargo ’to bhārgabhūmir abhūn nṛpa
ข้าแต่พระราชาปรีกษิต จากสัตยเกตุมีโอรสชื่อธฤษฏเกตุ; จากธฤษฏเกตุมีสุคุมาร ผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งแผ่นดินทั้งปวง. จากสุคุมารมีวีติหوتระ; จากวีติหوتระมีภัรคะ; และจากภัรคะมีภารคภูมิ.
They are successive descendants in the royal lineage described by Śukadeva Gosvāmī: from Dhṛṣṭaketu came Sukumāra; Sukumāra’s son was Vītihotra; and Vītihotra’s descendant was Bharga.
Bhārgabhūmi refers to a region that became known by the name of Bharga, indicating how places were often named after prominent rulers or sages in Purāṇic history.
