Parīkṣit’s Final Absorption, Takṣaka’s Bite, Janamejaya’s Snake Sacrifice, and the Vedic Sound-Lineage

नैष त्वया मनुष्येन्द्र वधमर्हति सर्पराट् । अनेन पीतममृतमथ वा अजरामर: ॥ २४ ॥

naiṣa tvayā manuṣyendra vadham arhati sarpa-rāṭ anena pītam amṛtam atha vā ajarāmaraḥ

ข้าแต่มหาราชผู้เป็นใหญ่ในหมู่มนุษย์ พญานาคองค์นี้ไม่สมควรถูกประหารด้วยพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ เพราะเขาได้ดื่มอมฤตของเหล่าเทวะแล้ว จึงไม่อยู่ใต้อำนาจแห่งชราและมรณะโดยสามัญ
