apāyayat stanaṁ prītā suta-sparśa-parisnutam mohitā māyayā viṣṇor yayā sṛṣṭiḥ pravartate
In the opinion of Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī, the word sṛṣṭi can here also refer to the creative process by which Lord Viṣṇu’s Yoga-māyā arranges the settings and situations of His pastimes. There is indeed no question of Mother Devakī being affected by the material aspect of Māyā.
This verse states that the same māyā belonging to Lord Viṣṇu—by which the universe and its functions proceed—can also bewilder living beings, even in intimate, loving exchanges.
Because Viṣṇu’s māyā covers awareness of His supreme divinity, allowing pure parental affection to flow naturally so she relates to Him as her child.
Recognize that strong emotions and identities can arise under māyā’s influence; grounding oneself in bhakti—remembering the Lord’s position—helps one act with clarity and devotion.
