The Vraja Elders Question Kṛṣṇa’s Identity; Nanda Recounts Garga’s Prophecy
bahūni santi nāmāni rūpāṇi ca sutasya te guṇa-karmānurūpāṇi tāny ahaṁ veda no janāḥ
This verse states that Kṛṣṇa possesses many names and forms, each aligned with His specific qualities and deeds, and that such understanding is not available to ordinary people.
In the context of describing the child’s divine identity, Garga Muni indicates that the boy’s various names and forms arise from His extraordinary qualities and pastimes—knowledge grasped by the spiritually insightful, not by common observers.
By chanting and reflecting on Kṛṣṇa’s names connected to His virtues and actions, one can cultivate devotion, steadiness of mind, and a more sacred lens for daily life.
