The Deliverance of Nalakūvara and Maṇigrīva
Yamala-Arjuna Līlā Prelude and Culmination
gṛhyamāṇais tvam agrāhyo vikāraiḥ prākṛtair guṇaiḥ ko nv ihārhati vijñātuṁ prāk siddhaṁ guṇa-saṁvṛtaḥ
As it is said:
This verse states that although the material modes and their transformations grasp and define worldly things, Krishna cannot be grasped by them; He remains the eternally perfect Reality, beyond and concealed from material perception.
They emphasize that conditioned beings perceive through the filter of sattva, rajas, and tamas; therefore, the Supreme Lord—who is prior to and independent of these modes—cannot be fully known by material means, but is approached through devotion and His mercy.
It encourages humility in spiritual inquiry: rely less on mere speculation and more on sincere bhakti—hearing, chanting, and serving—so understanding comes by purification rather than by trying to control the Divine with intellect alone.
