FAQs

The verse teaches that Shaiva worship is not only mantra and inner devotion, but also dharmic action—homa, dāna, and annadāna—through which purity of karma supports wellbeing (ārogya) and steadiness for bhakti toward Shiva.

In Linga/Saguna Shiva worship, offerings and charitable feeding are extensions of pūjā: the devotee honors Shiva by sustaining life in others and by sanctifying substances used in worship (like tila), thereby making external ritual a vehicle for inner devotion.

A practical triad is recommended: perform tilahoma (sesame oblations), give sesame in charity, and feed people with tilānna (sesame-prepared food), dedicating the act to Shiva for ārogya and other auspicious results.
