Nabhaga-Upākhyāna: The Account of Nabhaga and Shiva-Jñāna

manuruvāca | he tāta śṛṇu madvākyaṃ sa devaḥ puruṣaḥ śivaḥ | tasyaiva sakalaṃ vastu yajñaprāptaṃ viśeṣataḥ
Manu

Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Mantra: sa devaḥ puruṣaḥ śivaḥ
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that Śiva is the supreme Pati (Lord) and rightful owner of all results; therefore the seeker should renounce possessiveness and dedicate the fruits of ritual and action to Him, which purifies bondage (pāśa) and supports liberation.
By declaring Śiva as the supreme recipient of yajña, it supports Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā—where offerings (naivedya, abhiṣeka, homa) are consciously made to Śiva as the divine Person, even while acknowledging His transcendent nature.
A key takeaway is yajña-bhāvanā: perform worship or homa and mentally offer the entire yajña-phala to Śiva—optionally with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “oṃ namaḥ śivāya”—cultivating devotion and non-attachment to results.
