Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Bhairava
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse shows that apparent anger and harsh speech can be a deliberate dharmic test, revealing inner steadiness; as Śiva’s emanation, the sage acts to strengthen Dharma (Vṛṣa) rather than to harm.
By calling the sage “Śaṅkara’s emanation,” the text points to Saguna Śiva working through devotees and divine agents in the world; recognizing such divine agency nurtures surrender (śaraṇāgati) central to Shaiva devotion.
The takeaway is endurance and self-restraint during provocation while remembering Śiva—mentally repeating the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to keep the mind anchored in dharma when tested.
