वीरभद्र-भैरव-आह्वानम् — Invocation of Vīrabhadra/Bhairava for Cosmic Reabsorption
नृसिंह उवाच । आगतोसि यतस्तत्र गच्छ त्वम्मा हितं वद । इदानीं संहरिष्यामि जगदेतच्चराचरम्
nṛsiṃha uvāca | āgatosi yatastatra gaccha tvammā hitaṃ vada | idānīṃ saṃhariṣyāmi jagadetaccarācaram
నృసింహుడు పలికెను—నీవు ఏ స్థలమునుండి ఇక్కడికి వచ్చితివో, అక్కడికే తిరిగి పోయి నాకు హితమైన మాట చెప్పుము. ఇప్పుడు నేను ఈ సమస్త జగత్తును—చరాచరములను—సంహరించెదను.

The verse highlights saṃhāra (cosmic withdrawal): all that is carācara is impermanent and ultimately returns to the Divine source. In a Shaiva frame, it points to recognizing Pati (the Lord) as the inner ruler beyond creation’s arising and dissolution, encouraging detachment and God-centered discernment.
Though spoken by Nṛsiṃha, the theme of dissolution aligns with Shiva’s function as Saṃhāra-kartā and with Linga worship as meditation on the timeless Reality that remains when names and forms subside. The Linga symbolizes the stable, transcendent ground (Nirguna) approached through a worshipful form (Saguna).
A practical takeaway is contemplation on impermanence while repeating the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), mentally offering the carācara world into Shiva. If following Shiva Purana observances, one may pair japa with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to steadiness and vairāgya.
