Tattva Level: pashu

Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse frames an asuric political ‘sovereignty’ that mimics divine lordship, setting up the need for divine intervention.

FAQs

The verse highlights worldly dominion—bringing the three worlds under control—as a display of temporal power; from a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, such mastery still belongs to the realm of māyā and pāśa unless it is surrendered to Pati (Śiva), who alone grants liberation beyond mere kingship.

By contrasting political supremacy with true spiritual sovereignty, the narrative implicitly points toward Saguna Shiva worship (Linga, mantra, and devotion) as the means to align authority with dharma and ultimately transcend it—recognizing Śiva as the real Lord of the three worlds.

A practical takeaway is to temper ambition with daily Shiva-upāsanā—japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and reverent application of Tripuṇḍra (bhasma)—so power and success do not harden into bondage.
