Vāmadeva-mata: Rahasya-upadeśa
The Esoteric Teaching of Vāmadeva’s Doctrine
सूत उवाच । स्वस्त्यस्तु मुनयस्सर्वे सुखिन स्सन्तु सर्व्वदा । शिवभक्ता स्थिरात्मानश्शिवे भक्तिप्रवर्तकाः
sūta uvāca | svastyastu munayassarve sukhina ssantu sarvvadā | śivabhaktā sthirātmānaśśive bhaktipravartakāḥ
Suta Goswami (Sūta)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Benedictory framing: the fruit is steadiness of mind (sthiratā) and growth of Śiva-bhakti, understood in Siddhānta as ripening toward Śiva’s anugraha (grace) that loosens pāśa.
Type: stotra
It functions as a sacred benediction: true auspiciousness (svasti) is linked to happiness grounded in steadfastness and Śiva-bhakti, implying that stability of mind and devotion to Pati (Śiva) are the auspicious foundation for liberation-oriented listening and practice.
By blessing the sages to be “promoters of devotion to Śiva,” it supports Saguna worship—devotion expressed through reverence, praise, and ritual focus (often centered on the Śiva-liṅga)—as a practical means to steady the mind and turn the soul toward Śiva.
The verse emphasizes cultivating steady-minded bhakti: regular japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), satsanga/listening to Purana recitation, and daily Śiva-pūjā (often with vibhūti/tripuṇḍra and rudrākṣa) as supports for stable devotion.
