Offering: naivedya
The verse highlights śauca (ritual purity) and gratitude toward ṛṣis, devas, and pitṛs as a preparatory discipline—aligning one’s life with dharma before approaching Shiva, the Pati, for grace and liberation.
It shows the customary sequence preceding Saguna Shiva worship—tarpaṇa, purification by water, and clean attire—so the devotee becomes fit to perform offerings to the Linga with steadiness, reverence, and sattvic intent.
Perform tarpaṇa (especially with tila) for pitṛs and devas, bathe or ritually sprinkle water (samprokṣaṇa) for purification, wear clean clothes, and then proceed to Shiva worship—ideally accompanied by japa of the Panchākṣarī mantra, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
