నీళ్లలోనూ వడపోతలోనూ తనను తాను శుద్ధి చేసుకుంటూ పావమాన సోముడు ప్రకాశించే రాజుగా వెలుగుతాడు; యజ్ఞక్రతువును అభిషేకించి పరిపూర్ణం చేసి, వృషభంలా–అశ్వంలా వేగంగా ప్రవహిస్తూ, సర్పం చర్మం విడిచినట్లు మలినాన్ని తొలగిస్తాడు. దినాలను కొలిచే నియమకర్తగా, లోకస్థాపక శక్తిగా నిలిచి, యజమానికి ప్రాణబలం, ధనం, గృహసౌభాగ్యం, నెయ్యిలాంటి సమృద్ధిని ప్రసాదిస్తాడు.

अञ्जते व्यञ्जते समञ्जते क्रतुं रिहन्ति मध्वाभ्यञ्जते सिन्धोरु ऽच्छ्वासे पतयन्तमुक्षणं हिरण्यपावाः पशुमप्सु गृभ्णते .

జ్ఞానవంతుడైన పవమాన (సోమ)ునికి గానము చేయండి. సోమరస మహాధార నిరంతరం ప్రవహిస్తుంది; జీర్ణచర్మాన్ని విడిచి సర్పం జారిపోవునట్లు; క్రీడించే అశ్వం పరుగెత్తి బయలుదేరునట్లు—అలాగే హరి, తామ్రవర్ణుడు, బలవంతుడైన వృషభుడు, ముందుకు దూసుకుపోతాడు.
