Hanuman’s Self-Assertion of Power and Ascent of Mount Mahendra
महद्भिरुच्छ्रितं शृङ्गैर्महेन्द्रं स महाबलः।।4.67.43।।विचचार हरिश्रेष्ठो महेन्द्रसमविक्रमः।
mahadbhir ucchritaṁ śṛṅgair mahendraṁ sa mahābalaḥ |
vicacāra hariśreṣṭho mahendra-samavikramaḥ || 4.67.43 ||
మహాబలశాలియైన హరిశ్రేష్ఠుడు—పరాక్రమంలో ఇంద్రునితో సమానుడు—ఎత్తెత్తైన మహాశిఖరాలతో ఉన్న మహేంద్రగిరిపై విహరించసాగాడు॥
The rocks of the mountain got scattered by the force. The deer and elephants were terrified. The trees were shaken up violently and streams of water gushed forth.
Dharma appears as steadfast commitment to a rightful mission: Hanumān’s strength is framed as an instrument for the search for Sītā, not self-glorification.
Hanumān moves upon Mount Mahendra, the launch-point from which he will cross the ocean toward Laṅkā.
Heroic capability aligned with duty—prowess that serves a moral purpose.
