Hanuman’s Self-Assertion of Power and Ascent of Mount Mahendra
महामेरुप्रतीकाशं मां द्रक्ष्यथ वानराः।।4.67.21।।दिवमावृत्य गच्छन्तं ग्रसमानमिवाम्बरम्।
mahāmerupratīkāśaṃ māṃ drakṣyatha vānarāḥ || 4.67.21 ||
divam āvṛtya gacchantaṃ grasamānam ivāmbaram |
హే వానరులారా! మీరు నన్ను మహామేరు పర్వతసమానంగా దర్శిస్తారు—ఆకాశాన్ని కప్పుకుంటూ ముందుకు సాగుతూ, ఆకాశాన్నే మింగుతున్నట్టుగా।
'O monkeys! when I fly in the sky like the great mount Meru, you will see me as if I am swallowing the sky because I will be enveloping it with my strides.
Dharma highlights responsible heroism: greatness is presented to inspire others toward the truthful mission, not to intimidate or dominate for ego.
Immediately before the leap, Hanumān describes the magnitude of his form and stride as he traverses the sky.
Mahattva (grandeur) joined with sevā-bhāva (service-intent): his ‘vastness’ serves the rescue effort.
