Sugriva on Surveying the Earth’s Regions
सुग्रीवस्तु ततो राममुवाच प्रणतात्मवान्।श्रूयतां सर्वमाख्यास्ये विस्तरेण नरर्षभ।।।।
sugrīvas tu tato rāmam uvāca praṇatātmavān |
śrūyatāṁ sarvam ākhyāsye vistareṇa nararṣabha ||
అప్పుడు వినయశీలుడూ నమ్రహృదయుడైన సుగ్రీవుడు రామునితో అన్నాడు— “వినండి; ఓ నరశ్రేష్ఠా, నేను సమస్తాన్ని విస్తారంగా వివరిస్తాను।”
'There I saw, filled with minerals the mountain behind which the Sun rises and the milky ocean frequented by the apsaras.
Dharma here is truthful, respectful speech—approaching a righteous ally with humility and committing to an honest, complete account (satya).
Sugrīva begins narrating to Rāma the background of his conflict with Vālī and the events that led him to seek refuge.
