FAQs

It teaches a disciplined attitude toward food—cultivating contentment and restraint—and warns that overeating leads to illness, reduced longevity, and loss of heavenly merit.

Because excess in eating is treated as a breach of self-control and dharmic moderation, which diminishes merit (puṇya) and obstructs the conduct associated with higher spiritual/heavenly outcomes.

Practice moderation and mindful consumption: appreciate what is available, remain content, and avoid excess that harms health and undermines disciplined living.
