कार्पासमुपवीतार्थं निर्मितं ब्रह्मणा पुरा । ब्राह्मणानां त्रिवृत्सूत्रं कौशं वा वस्त्रमेव वा

పూర్వకాలంలో బ్రహ్మ యజ్ఞోపవీతార్థంగా పత్తిని సృష్టించాడు. బ్రాహ్మణులకు మూడు తంతువుల యజ్ఞోపవీతం—కుశగడ్డి దానితో గాని, లేక వస్త్రంతో గాని—విధేయము.
