नारद उवाच । वाराणस्यां महाराज मध्यमेशं परात्परम् । तस्मिन्स्थाने महादेवो देव्या सह महेश्वरः

నారదుడు పలికెను—ఓ మహారాజా, వారాణసీలో ‘మధ్యమేశ’ అనే పరాత్పర లింగం ఉంది. ఆ స్థలంలో దేవితో కూడ మహాదేవుడు మహేశ్వరుడు నివసించుచున్నాడు।
