Māhātmya of the Kāverī–Narmadā Confluence (Patreśvara Tīrtha): Sin-Removal and Merit
tasya tuṣṭo mahādevaḥ pradadyādvaramuttamam | bho bho yakṣa mahāsatva varaṃ brūhi yathepsitam | brūhi kāryaṃ yatheṣṭaṃ tu yadvā manasi varttate
Mahādeva (Śiva)
Concept: Divine grace responds to sustained discipline: when tapas ripens, the deity grants boons aligned with one’s inner intention.
Application: Clarify your ‘manasi vartate’—the true desire: after discipline and purification, ask for what supports dharma (service, protection, generosity) rather than egoic gain.
Primary Rasa: vira

Mahādeva (Śiva) is speaking, addressing a Yakṣa described as “mahāsattva,” a great and powerful being.
The theme is divine favor: Śiva, pleased with devotion or service, invites the recipient to state any desired boon or intention.
It highlights that sincere conduct leading to divine satisfaction results in grace, and that one should clearly articulate one’s aims and intentions when given an opportunity.
