Concept: Cosmic reciprocity: Pitṛs follow ordained paths, and devas ‘nourish’ them—implying a network of sustenance through yajña and dharmic order.

Application: Maintain reciprocity in life—give support where you receive support; perform duties (family, community, spiritual) as part of a larger sustaining web.

FAQs

They are described as realms associated with Soma (the lunar principle), presented here as a named cosmic region/path where certain lineages dwell and through which ancestral beings (Pitṛs) move.

Marīci is a primordial sage in Purāṇic genealogies; “mārīcanandanāḥ” refers to his progeny/lineage, placed here within a specific cosmic realm (Somapathā).

The verse underscores a Purāṇic worldview of reciprocity and order: gods and ancestors are sustained through proper cosmic channels and lineage-based duties, encouraging reverence toward Devas and Pitṛs through dharmic conduct.
