FAQs

The verse identifies Kiṣkindhā, known from the Rāmāyaṇa as the vānaras’ realm, and recalls that it was once protected/ruled by Vālī.

It summarizes the well-known Rāmāyaṇa episode: Vālī’s death enabled Sugrīva to regain his position, framing the event as undertaken for Sugrīva’s cause.

By tying place to narrative memory, the verse highlights how leadership, protection of a realm, and the consequences of conflict become part of a region’s remembered identity in Purāṇic sacred geography.
