Unspecified in the provided excerpt (context needed from surrounding verses to confirm the dialogue frame, often Pulastya → Bhīṣma in Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa narratives).

Concept: In exalted sacred time, accessible acts (bathing, charity, pitṛ-tarpaṇa) yield results comparable to grand Vedic sacrifices; devotion democratizes merit.

Application: Perform a sincere bath/ablution, give charity without expectation, and offer simple water-libations to ancestors on auspicious days; cultivate ‘akṣaya’ giving by making generosity a habit.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"At a river-ghāṭa during an auspicious Kārtika yoga, a devotee emerges from the water with folded hands, while attendants distribute alms that glow like ‘akṣaya’ light. In a subtle overlay, a translucent vision of the Aśvamedha altar appears—suggesting equivalence—while nearby the devotee offers tarpaṇa: water streams through fingers into the river, and ancestral silhouettes receive it with calm satisfaction.","primary_figures":["a devotee performing snāna","recipients of charity","pitṛs (subtle, ethereal)","priests assisting tarpaṇa"],"setting":"river ghat with steps, lamps, offering trays; faint visionary sacrificial altar in the background sky-plane","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["deep indigo","ghee-lamp gold","river jade","sandstone beige","marigold orange"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central devotee at the ghāṭa with gold-leaf highlights on water ripples and lamps; side vignette of dāna with overflowing grain and cloth; upper register shows a faint Aśvamedha altar and horse motif rendered in stylized iconography; pitṛs as subtle gold silhouettes receiving tarpaṇa; rich reds/greens, ornate borders, heavy gold embellishment.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate ghāṭa scene with delicate gestures of tarpaṇa; soft lamp glow reflected on water; a faint, dreamlike Aśvamedha altar in the distance; gentle earth tones with cool blues, refined faces, lyrical realism, minimal yet expressive supernatural overlay for pitṛs.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold-lined ghāṭa composition; devotee in iconic pose pouring water for tarpaṇa; stylized pitṛ figures in a separate panel-like band; simplified Aśvamedha symbol (horse/altar) as emblem; strong reds, yellows, greens with black outlines; temple-wall narrative clarity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: ghāṭa filled with rows of diyas and lotus motifs; central tarpaṇa act framed by floral borders; repeated ‘akṣaya’ abundance motifs—overflowing pots, grain patterns; deep blue background with gold highlights; intricate textile patterning, devotional symmetry."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"celebratory","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["conch shell","temple bells","flowing water","soft chanting of pitṛ-mantras","lamp crackle"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: अत्राश्वमेधिकम् = अत्र + अश्वमेधिकम्; दानमक्षयताम् = दानम् + अक्षयताम्

FAQs

It praises tīrtha-snānā (bathing in a sacred place), stating that it yields exceptionally high merit—comparable to an Aśvamedha.

It implies that charity performed there becomes “akṣaya” (inexhaustible): its spiritual fruit is enduring and does not diminish.

The verse states that pitṛ-tarpaṇa (offerings/libations meant to satisfy ancestors) performed in that sacred context gives sure and effective results.
