FAQs

Tiladhenu literally means “sesame-cow”: a symbolic ritual gift (often an image/representation of a cow) associated with the donation of sesame, offered as a meritorious act (dāna) in Purāṇic practice.

The verse states that donating these items leads to being “honored in Śiva-loka,” i.e., attaining esteem or elevated status in Śiva’s realm.

Purāṇic dāna prescriptions often include precise measurements to standardize ritual items; “eight aṅgulas” indicates a specific, tradition-bound size for the donated trident.
