Puruṣottama means “the Supreme Person,” a common epithet of Viṣṇu; in many Purāṇic-Rāmāyaṇa contexts it points to Rāma as Viṣṇu’s incarnation.
It portrays them as moving through the aerial path—i.e., capable of extraordinary leaps and swift movement as if traversing the sky.
The verse highlights devoted following (anujagmuḥ) of the Supreme—steadfast accompaniment and service to Puruṣottama, depicted through the loyal vanara hosts.
