Application: Cultivate an ‘anvaham’ routine: 10–20 minutes of Purāṇa listening/reading with śraddhā; keep a journal of one teaching applied that day; avoid sectarian contempt—practice respectful theism.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A brotherly listener sits with folded hands as a sage recites from a manuscript; above them, Śiva and Viṣṇu appear side by side in a gentle, non-sectarian vision, each surrounded by their attendants—gaṇas with Śiva, and Viṣṇu’s parivāra with conch and discus motifs. The air feels calm and sanctified, as if the very act of listening has summoned divine approval.","primary_figures":["Viṣṇu","Śiva","Purāṇa-vaktā (sage)","śrotā (brother-disciple)","Śiva-gaṇas","Viṣṇu-parivāra (attendants)"],"setting":"Hermitage satsanga pavilion with manuscript stand, incense, and a small altar","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["ash white","sapphire blue","rudraksha brown","gold leaf","smoke gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Śiva and Viṣṇu in harmonious dual darśan above a seated Purāṇa recitation scene; thick gold leaf halos, rich crimson backdrop, ornate jewelry, conch-disc and trident motifs, attendants arranged symmetrically, temple arch framing, gem-like highlights.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: a quiet daily reading in a mountain āśrama, with a soft cloud-vision of Śiva and Viṣṇu smiling in approval; delicate lines, cool palette, refined expressions, pine trees and distant peaks, lyrical serenity.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: frontal Śiva and Viṣṇu with bold outlines and large eyes, hovering above a reciter and listener; natural pigments, red/yellow/green dominance, stylized attendants, lamp-lit corridor feel.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: satsanga scene bordered by lotus vines; central upper medallion shows Viṣṇu with śaṅkha-cakra and Śiva with triśūla, both blessing; deep blue cloth, gold detailing, peacocks and floral borders."}

FAQs

It praises purāṇa-śravaṇa—devotional listening to Purāṇic teachings—performed regularly with śraddhā (faith).

The verse states that both Śiva and Viṣṇu become directly pleased (sākṣāt prasanna) with the devoted listener.

It highlights a harmonizing Hari-Hara sentiment: devotion expressed through sacred listening can please both Viṣṇu and Śiva, underscoring bhakti as a unifying path.
