मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
उत्तमस्य सुतः सोऽथ नाम्ना ख्यातस्तथौत्तमः ।
मनुरासीत्तत्प्रभावो भागुरे श्रूयतां मम ॥
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca uttamasya sutaḥ so 'tha nāmnā khyātas tathauttamaḥ / manur āsīt tatprabhāvo bhāgure śrūyatāṃ mama
మార్కండేయుడు చెప్పెను: అతడు ఉత్తముని కుమారుడు; అందుచేత ‘ఔత్తమ’ అనే నామంతో ప్రసిద్ధి పొందెను. అతడు మనువయ్యెను; ఓ భాగురీ, అతని మన్వంతర ప్రభావాన్ని నన్ను నుండి వినుము.
