Adhyaya 34 — Madālāsā’s Instruction on Sadācāra (Householder Conduct, Purity, and Daily Rites)
vasennityaṃ suśīleṣu sahavāsiṣu paṇḍitaḥ | ityetat kathitaṃ putra mayā te hitakāmyayā ||

Character is shaped by association: the text recommends intentional proximity to the virtuous (suśīla) as a practical means of sustaining dharma and restraining harmful habits.
This passage is primarily dharma-upadeśa (ethical instruction) rather than a core pañcalakṣaṇa unit (sarga/pratisarga/vaṃśa/manvantara/vaṃśānucarita). It appears as didactic material embedded in narrative.
On a subtler level, “dwelling with the virtuous” can be read as keeping one’s mind (antaḥkaraṇa) in the company of sattvic tendencies—cultivating inner saṅga with clarity, restraint, and truth.
