Identification of the Pāṇḍavas in Virāṭa’s Court

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma: when faced with unjust aggression, disciplined strength may be used decisively to restrain and correct the wrongdoer. The sun-and-cloud image frames Arjuna’s action as a morally charged, order-restoring force rather than mere violence.

Arjuna (Pārtha/Dhanaṃjaya) sees the Kaurava forces withdrawing in dense formations and swiftly attacks them, ‘scorching’ them through his martial prowess—described through a poetic comparison to the sun burning through cloud-masses.
