Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the moral and strategic blindness of speaking arrogantly when the decisive agent of destiny has already appeared. It critiques hollow “wisdom” that ignores evident reality and the ethical consequences of adharma, suggesting that downfall follows when counsel is driven by pride rather than discernment.

In the Virāṭa episode, Arjuna’s presence becomes known/decisive, and Kṛpa rebukes an interlocutor for still trying to argue as if the situation were uncertain. He frames Arjuna’s manifestation as a sign that the Kauravas’ destruction is imminent, and he challenges the pretense of wise speech in the face of that reality.
