Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 25: Kaurava Deliberation and the Search Directive (अन्वेषण-आदेशः)
सर्वथा विप्रणष्टास्ते नमस्ते भरतर्षभ । नहि विद्यो गति तेषां वासं वापि महात्मनाम्,जान पड़ता है; वे बिल्कुल नष्ट हो गये। भरतश्रेष्ठल आपको नमस्कार है। हम महात्मा पाण्डवोंके मार्ग, निवासस्थान, प्रवृत्ति अथवा उनके द्वारा किये हुए कार्यके विषयमें कुछ भी जानकारी नहीं प्राप्त कर सके। प्रजापालक नरेश! इसके बाद हमारे लिये क्या आज्ञा है?
sarvathā vipraṇaṣṭās te namas te bharatarṣabha | nahi vidyo gatis teṣāṁ vāsaṁ vāpi mahātmanām | pravṛttiṁ vā kṛtaṁ karma prajāpālaka pārthiva | tataḥ paraṁ kim asmākaṁ ājñāpayitum arhasi ||
వారు అన్ని విధాలా మా దృష్టికి అందకుండా పోయారు. భరతశ్రేష్ఠా! మీకు నమస్కారం. ఆ మహాత్ములైన పాండవుల గతి, నివాసస్థానం, వారి చలనం గాని, వారు చేసిన కార్యాలు గాని—ఏదీ మేము తెలుసుకోలేకపోయాము. ప్రజాపాలక నరేశా! ఇకపై మా కోసం మీ ఆజ్ఞ ఏమిటి?
