अथाब्रवीदगस्त्यस्तान् राजर्षनृषिसत्तम: । विषादो वो न कर्तव्यो हाहं भोक्ष्ये महासुरम्,तब ऋषिश्रेष्ठ अगस्त्यने उन राजर्षियोंसे (आश्वासन देते हुए) कहा--“तुमलोगोंको चिन्ता नहीं करनी चाहिये। मैं ही इस महादैत्यको खा जाऊँगा।' ऐसा कहकर महर्षि अगस्त्य प्रधान आसनपर जा बैठे और दैत्यराज इल्वलने हँसते हुए-से उन्हें वह मांस परोस दिया
athābravīd agastyas tān rājarṣi-nṛṣisattamaḥ | viṣādo vo na kartavyo hāhaṃ bhokṣye mahāsuram ||
అప్పుడు రాజర్షులలో శ్రేష్ఠుడూ, నరులలో ఉత్తముడైన అగస్త్య మహర్షి వారితో ఇలా అన్నాడు—“మీరు విషాదపడకండి. ఈ మహాదానవాన్ని నేనే భక్షిస్తాను.” అని చెప్పి అగస్త్యుడు ప్రధానాసనాన్ని అధిరోహించి కూర్చున్నాడు; దానవరాజు ఇల్వలుడు నవ్వుతున్నట్టుగా, మోసబుద్ధితో, ఆ మాంసాన్ని అతనికి వడ్డించాడు—కాని అగస్త్యుని నిర్భయ సంకల్పానికి అతని కపటము ఓడిపోయింది।
