Indrajit and Lakṣmaṇa: Escalation through Concealment

tato ghoratamaḥ śabdo raṇe samabhavat tadā | bhīmārjunayamān dṛṣṭvā sainyānāṃ sa-yudhiṣṭhirān |

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how the presence of dharma-aligned leaders can shift the moral and psychological balance in conflict: righteousness, when organized and visible, unsettles forces acting from fear, aggression, or adharma.

As Yudhiṣṭhira arrives accompanied by Bhīma and Arjuna, a terrifying clamor erupts among the opposing troops on the battlefield—signaling alarm and agitation at the sight of the formidable Pāṇḍava warriors.
