Educational Q&A

The verse advises achieving harmony in intimate relationships through gradual, gentle conduct—courtesy, generosity, pleasing presentation, and considerate behavior—so that affection is strengthened and the beloved willingly draws close.

Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates counsel given to a woman (addressed as ‘sakhi’) on how to behave so that her beloved recognizes her as especially dear and embraces her—emphasizing tactful, affectionate means rather than confrontation.
