वैशम्पायन उवाच
This is a colophon rather than a didactic verse: its function is to signal closure and preserve the work’s internal organization. Indirectly, it highlights the Mahābhārata’s concern with sacred geography (Meru-darśana) and the disciplined transmission of narrative through clearly marked textual units.
The speaker’s line here does not advance the plot; it formally concludes the chapter identified as the Meru-darśana portion within the Yakṣa-yuddha episode of the Vana Parva, indicating that this chapter’s narration has ended and the text will proceed to the next section.
