Bhīma–Hanūmān Dialogue on Yugas (युगवर्णनम्)
हनुमानजी बोले--शत्रुदमन पाण्डुनन्दन! तुम्हारे मनमें मेरा परिचय प्राप्त करनेके लिये जो कौतूहल हो रहा है उसकी शान्तिके लिये सब बातें विस्तारपूर्वक सुनो ।। अहं केसरिण: क्षेत्र वायुना जगदायुषा । जात: कमलपत्राक्ष हनूमान् नाम वानर:,कमलनयन भीम! मैं वानरश्रेष्ठ केसरीके क्षेत्रमें जगतके प्राणस्वरूप वायुदेवसे उत्पन्न हुआ हूँ। मेरा नाम हनुमान् वानर है
hanūmān uvāca—śatrudamana pāṇḍunandana! tava manasi mama paricayaṃ prāptuṃ yat kautūhalaṃ vartate, tasya śāntyai sarvāḥ kathā vistareṇa śṛṇu. ahaṃ kesariṇaḥ kṣetre vāyunā jagadāyuṣā jātaḥ, kamalapatrākṣa hanūmān nāma vānaraḥ.
హనుమానుడు పలికెను—“శత్రుదమన పాండునందనా! నా పరిచయం తెలుసుకోవాలనే నీ కౌతూహలం శాంతించుటకై విస్తారంగా వినుము. కమలనయన భీమా! వానరశ్రేష్ఠుడు కేసరి యొక్క ప్రాంతంలో, జగత్తుకు ప్రాణస్వరూపుడైన వాయుదేవుని ద్వారా నేను జన్మించితిని. నా నామము హనుమాన్—వానరులలో అగ్రగణ్యుడు.”
